Mason's Birthday!
Mason turned 10 years old yesterday! It seems hard to believe that my sweet little boy is already that old. I was induced with him on December 22 because I didn't want to have him on Christmas Day which was my due date. Christmas that year ten years ago was one of the best having a sweet little spirit so fresh from heaven. Mason has and still is a sweet spirited boy. Jon and I often say that it's good that we only have one because he is such a good boy. He is the best son I could ask for! For his birthday he had breakfast in bed which included his favorite breakfast food, bacon. He then played all day while his sisters and I did all the Saturday chores. (Morgan was not too happy about that!) That evening we ate homemade calazones, drank his favorite pop and watched the BYU Cougs win their bowl game in a nail biting finish! Way to go Cougars!!! We then took the family to ColdStone for their choice is Ice Cream. Mason had a great day and will also get his friend birthday party on January 4th! Mason is very responsible. He always does his homework and is very proud of the fact that he has never missed an assignment. His favorite subject in school is math and he does pretty well in this area. He loves basketball and is currently on a team with some of his bball friends. One day I was looking at my DVR recordings and saw that Mason had recorded a NBA game. When I asked him about this he said that he wanted to watch all the games. I then informed him that there were way too many games to watch and there will always be a game to watch so he doesn't need to record them. Right now he doesn't have a favorite team but he's excited to goto a Blazer game this spring! Santa gave him an early present. He loves to play guitar hero with Morgan, have nerf gun wars with Brooklyn and is constantly taking care of Brinley & Maddie. Both of the little girls just adore him! Brinley constantly asks if its a school night because if it's not she gets to sleep with him. And one of Maddie's first words was "Honey" which is what she calls Mason. Mason still wants me to always be the last one to tuck him in at night and sing him his favorite song "Here comes the Sandman(we call it the baby song)" Mason also loves to play games. He's always trying to play any board game with anyone and he also loves his video games. Mason is a typical 10 year old. Loves to play with his friends, play games, ride bikes, and tease his siblings. We love him dearly and are so glad that we have such a great son!

Busy Weekend!
Why do the weekends seem to just fly by? I think that it's because we only have one day to accomplish so many tasks. Friday evening was spent celebrating Morgan's accomplishments. She got her first report card which included a 4.0! She also tried out for her Middle School Dance Team and made it! She had been practicing all week and then the tryouts were on Friday. We then had to wait around until 7:30 pm to hear the results. She did really great on her routine and is excited for her season. We went to Dairy Queen as a family to get Blizzards. Saturday was devoted to making and delivering our neighbor gifts. All afternoon was spent making yummy carmel corn. I finished the neighbor, VT, and teacher gifts! The kids then delivered most of our gifts in these cute containers!
That evening we took Mason out to dinner and shopping for his birthday. He was very excited for his new nerf gun and bike! Sunday was very busy. With Jon's new calling he seems to rarely be home on Sunday's. We had church, dinner at a friends, choir, our Stake Christmas Devotional, and then cousins over for hot chocolate! We both stayed up late to watch the Survivor Season Finale and we finally crashed at midnight! I'm just glad to get a few more things checked off my to do list.

Fourteen More Days!

There are only 14 more days until Christmas! That's unbelievable. I am feeling not ready at all!!! I seem to be like this every year. I do most of my shopping between Thanksgiving and Christmas, I usually deliver my neighbor gifts the week before the holiday, and I stay up late on Christmas Eve wrapping all my gifts! I think I must have learned this from my mother because that is exactly what she does also. This past weekend I did everything BUT shop for Christmas. I went with friend to look at purses. I ended up buying myself a new purse and Brinley a new outfit.
That evening I went to our ward xmas party by myself because Jon is still out of town. We had a great dinner and program! I then went to a friend's cookie exchange. Saturday was spent teaching, cleaning, babysitting cousins, and scrapbooking with friends until 1:30am. Last night I stayed up late working on my Christmas puzzle. Stephen gave us a Christmas Carol Puzzle a few years ago. This puzzle is a family tradition that we grew up with. Every year we would put this puzzle together before Christmas. Last week Mason reminded me about the puzzle. I was anxious all weekend to get it going. So last night was another late nighter working on the puzzle. I will eventually finish all my Christmas shopping and projects! Happy Holidays!

Decorating for the Holidays!
I finally finished last night decorating for Christmas. I started before thanksgiving so it took me awhile! I wanted to share some of my new favorite things that I've gotten this year! I have gotten some ornaments and words that are glittered. I love them! I have several around the house. This Merry Christmas is right inside my front door:
I have HO HO HO, Believe, and Santa scattered on the tree:
My mom gave me this Nativity Set last year for Christmas, but this is the first year that I've put it up. Love It!:These are some new ornaments that Morgan picked out to match her new room. We found them at Target. Love them!
I found this cute little pink feather tree at Michaels. I got is for the little girls room at a great sale the day after Thanksgiving!
My friend Joni gave this Believe sign to me this year for Christmas. The funny thing about this gift is that I almost bought this just a few days earlier. I actually got my tape measure out to see if it would fit under my mantel. I guess it was meant to be:
I bought this wreath just yesterday from one of Morgans friends. He wanted to earn money for Christmas gifts so Neil and his mom made this beautiful wreath! What a great idea, and I'm so excited to have some real evergreen in the house! My last picture will be of my biggest purchase this year. We finally broke down and bought a fake tree! I have been thinking about getting one for a few years. I couldn't resist the great deal I got on it on my "After Thanksgiving " shopping trip.

Happy Birthday Monique!
Today being Monique's birthday I thought my post should be a tribute to her. We took this picture together last summer at the opening of the new Harry Potter movie. The movie started at midnight! We were so excited to see the movie along with thousands of teenagers in Littleton, CO. It's sad to say but I don't have many pictures of us together. We were able to live in the same state for one short year! It was one of the best year's of my life! It was great to get together almost monthly! Our kids became great buddies also. I was so sad when they moved from the Seattle area! The other day Jon asked me "If you could choose anywhere to live where would that be?" I replied, "anywhere near my sister!" Happy Birthday Sis! I love you and miss you tons!

So You Think You Can Dance?

Last night Morgan and I went to the "So you thing you can Dance" show at the Rose Garden in Portland. It was so much fun. We bought our tickets with Temple, Paige, Mckenna, and some others friends (Kim and Micaela Grahm, Kim is Morgan's ballet teacher) The dancing was incredible and the show was fantastic! We all had so much fun we just wanted to dance right out of there! It made it for a late night though. The show was 2 and a half hours long so we didn't get home until 11:30 pm! A big thanks to my friend Joni for watching the other kids since Jon is still out of town. I went to bed at 1 am after I watched "Dancing with the Stars" (I just couldn't get enough dancing for one night!) At 2 am Maddie woke up and kept me up until 430am! I felt like I had a newborn again. I'm dragging today but it was all worth it for a great evening!

Thanksgiving Weekend!

What a fun, busy, and exhausting weekend it has been! Thanks giving was very yummy as usual. I stayed up so late on Wednesday night thinking that Thursday would be a breeze. NOT! I didn't shower until 1:15 pm and dinner was at 2:00 pm. We had great food and company. But being the host this year means that I was unable to really relax and enjoy the day. This is everyone enjoying dinner:
And then some of us enjoyed a nap (Jeff & Jon were supposedly upstairs playing with the two little ones in the bonus room):
We then went to see the movie "Enchanted". It was a cute movie but very crowded! And then back to our house for yummy Pie where some of us enjoyed the whip cream (Brinley & Paige):
By the time I hit the pillow at midnight I was exhausted! The next morning at 5 am Morgan and I went shopping! We hit several stores for the early sales. It was lots of fun and Morgan is now officially my "Black Friday" shopping partner. Jon hates to go! By the time we came home at noon I was even more tired than the previous day. That evening I took Jon to the airport so he could catch his red eye flight to NYC. Saturday was spent playing with friends, more shopping, and getting out the Christmas decorations. I have already done about half of the decorating, but I can't throw out my Thanksgiving center piece yet! My neighbor and I made them on Wednesday with the BIG help of her friend that used to work at a floral shop. Stephanie and I were very proud of accomplishments. We ended our fun holiday weekend with the Dustins Annual Pie Night. Some of our great friends invite families over to enjoy several holiday pies. It is always very filling, and fun evening. It is now back to regular bed times, our crazy schedule, and more holidays to come!

Making Ravioli!!!
My grandpa Prina had a family tradition of making homemade ravioli on holidays. My mother continued this tradition in my home growing up. I am also trying to continue this tradition. Some years it has happened and others NOT! This year since I am hosting Thanksgiving dinner I really wanted to serve this yummy dish with everyone. I was planning on making them on Sunday evening with the kids, but we were all exhausted. Mom seemed very excited when I told her that we were going to make Ravioli. We all had a great time making the Ravioli together tonight while we were listening to Christmas tunes. These three were the best helpers! Brooklyn especially loved the whole process!Morgan counted all the Ravioli's and the grand total was 154! It's a good thing we didn't double the recipe! The great thing is that I can freeze some and have them now for Christmas.

Maddie's Obsession
Madelyn loved everything about Halloween! She especially loved this pumpkin bucket that I got for $1 at Walmart. She packed that thing around for days before and after Halloween. It got so worn out and used that the wire that was giving its shape kept coming out. She would put everything and anything in that bucket. For example: books, stuffed animals, her favorite DVD's, play phones, socks, and of course candy. She filled that bucket up fast with candy on Halloween! She then proceeded to carry it around until all the candy was gone! I finally had to take it away because I kept on finding wrappers everywhere and candy stuck to my brand new carpet! Last week at the Gymboree sale I got these PJ's for her. I thought they were appropriate!

Insanity!

Do you ever wonder why you put yourself in certain situations? This morning was one of those occasions. I decided to go to the mall at the last minute. I usually go kidless because I have Morgan at home or one of my friends is watching the little girls. Well not today! I went to a mall in Portland because a friend told me that they were giving away $10 gift certificates for the first 500 people. (this mall is having a grand opening for a new addition) I loaded up the girls with snacks, drinks, and a movie for the drive. I had to go up stairs to the food court, and stand in a long line just to get my $10 gift card. I don't own a normal stroller anymore, only a jogger stroller which aren't very compact, so I was holding Maddie the whole time! I then went to only two stores. The first one was called the Pumpkin Patch. They have darling clothes. This is where I spent my free $10, and where I got Brinley this outfit:We then went to another store for a return, and that was it! I stopped at See's Candy to pick up Jon's favorite treat, Rum Nougot, and I was going to get a sucker for the girls. Well, they were both whining for this expensive Thanksgiving candy! I ended up just getting Jon's candy and our free samples. I left with both girls in tears and the employee's starring at me! When we got home I immediately fed them and put them both to bed. About 30 minutes later I heard them upstairs talking and playing around so I decided to see what they were up to. They had taken every book and puzzle out of their hutch and were playing with them on the floor. Brinley said it was all Maddie, Yeah right! I then separated them and decided that this is definitely going to be a Diet Pepsi Wild Cherry Day!

Our Den

For the past few weeks Monique has been asking me to send me some pictures of my house. I decided to put them on my blog so others can see them too. (Sorry Christy, you're the only one that has actually seen my house) This is our den/scrapbook haven: My side
I took pictures of both sides of the room: Jon's side It's very similar to my old den. Although, I do have much more storage and shelving in the closet. Sometimes Jon and I will both be in here together (on our own sides of course) in the evenings working on projects. Jon often gets tired before me and will lay on the carpet and immediately fall asleep. Yesterday, I was working on some thanksgiving invitations.(inmy scrapbook room) I think they turned out really cute! For FHE last night we delivered them to our family members that will be invited for the feast. I also made them a gratitude jar. Each day every family member must put something they are thankful for in the gratitude jar. I told everyone to bring their jar to my house on Thanksgiving day and we will share with each other what we are grateful for. Both Temple and Becky loved the idea. Thanks to Monique for the great idea. It will make us appreciate everything we are blessed with!

Halloween!
This year was one of our best Halloween's EVER! I think it was for many reasons. Ever since I have been in my current ward (ten years) we have had our Harvest Festival on Halloween. It's always been fun but we never go trick-or-treating in our own neighborhood. We had our party last weekend so last night we were actually able to enjoy the neighborhood. We first went to some friends house the Dustins for appetizers. Jon then took our children around for about an hour, while I stayed with Maddie. It was so fun for them to go around the neighborhood and see all their friends. The weather was absolutely fabulous. We usually have rain or it's very cold and windy. This year there was neither. The kids had a blast and got tons of candy. Overall, it was a very Happy Halloween!!!

Morgan & Emily getting ready to trade candy.

Carving Pumpkins to Music?

I thought today would be a good day to carve the pumpkins. (I took the kids by myself last Monday to the Pumpkin Patch. I was so bummed to find out while we were there that my battery was dead on my camera so no pictures this year.) The kids had a great time and got really messy! Madelyn just couldn't put these glasses down, so I had to take a picture! We were enjoying our Christmas music in the back ground as we carved. I have been itching to put it on the past week. This is very late for me this year! I usually break out the Christmas tunes in September. It has taken us awhile to get all the electronics set up in the new house. We're needing to get our new surround system set up, maybe Santa will bring that for us this year for Christmas!

Halloween Party!

Last night we had our ward Halloween party. It was really fun this year. My good friend Stacey Lake is now the Activities Chairmen in the ward. She put on a great party with lots of fun decorations, activities and food. We had chili, corn bread, and yummy apple crisp. All the kids were excited to dress up in their costumes. For the past two years I have dressed up in a costume. I tried to get the family excited about doing a family theme for costumes again this year. Morgan was the only one that wanted to do a theme. Last year since I made everyone be "the Incredibles" I told them that they could pick what they wanted to be this year. So just yesterday I called my friend to see if I could borrow her costume. She went to a "witches" themed Bunko party the other night. She made this great costume of Glinda the good witch from the "Wizard of Oz". Luckily, she let me borrow everything for the evening. It was a little uncomfortable with her heels and tight fitting dress. It was fun to dress up for one night since I will not be dressing up for Halloween, it will just be the kiddos!

Primary Program!

Last Sunday was our annual primary program! It was Morgan's last and Brinley's first. Morgan's birthday is only a week away so she was not too excited about doing the program. Everyone in her class has already moved into the YM/YW program except her and one other boy. She had a small part and did great. Mason and Brooklyn also had a small part and Brinley's Sunbeam class recited a part all together. Although we could not see Brinley at all! Her class was behind the Sacrament table. She was standing up but we could only see her little forehead and occasionally her eyes!

Morgan's Birthday Party

Morgan had her birthday party yesterday. Her birthday is not for nine more days but this weekend worked out best. She wanted to have a Halloween themed party. She was very excited to plan the party, go shopping for her party, and even clean the house for the party! All her friends dressed up in their costumes. We made homemade pizza and yummy homemade rootbeer. We did a craft project, and the girls ate lots of unhealthy snacks! (Candy & Chips). We also watched "Watcher in the Woods" an old disney movie that I watched when I was a kid. We also had cup cakes, ice cream and Krispy Creme Doughnuts! Wow, sugar overload! At least we don't have any of that left. Everyone had lots of fun especially Morgan! Jon and I were both hammered by the time everyone left at 10:30pm. Jon put everyone to bed while I cleaned up. By the time I went to bed at 12:30 a.m. I remembered why we only have birthday parties for our kids every two years: Because they are EXHAUSTING!

A Fun Post Also!

I saw this on Monique's Blog and it got me thinking about my answers to these questions so I thought I would do it also!

1. What was I doing 10 years ago?
I was living with my inlaws and my bro/sis inlaw with their 2 year old twins. We had been living with them for one year while we were waiting to sell our home in MI. We were having our first home built in Vancouver WA. I remember how excited I was to have the same house plan as the model home! I was seven months pregnant with my second child and my one & only BOY! (sad) I was actually sewing a Halloween costume for Morgan. She was the cutest pea pod ever. I was teaching aerobics at Exclusively for Women and Heatlh Experience (Both clubs are now out of business) and I was just hired on with Lacamas Swim and Sport. (It was still being built). I was also teaching classes at a local scrapbook store. I was getting very anxious to be out of the inlaws and start making my own friends and not just hanging out with my inlaws friends!

2. What I was doing 5 years ago?
This is way crazy but five years ago exactly I was living with my inlaws AGAIN! We had sold our first WA home and were in the process of building home #2. We were so excited to have another new and bigger home. I was also pregnant again with baby number four! My final child I thought and another GIRL! I was still debating what the name of this baby would be and thought her name would be Madelyn right up until 2 weeks before we had her. Was feeling overwhelmed with everything I needed to do because we were moving into our new house at the end of the month. Morgan had just started first grade and Mason was in Pre-K at Children's World of Music.

3. What I was doing one year ago?
Jon had just finished remodeling the Little House! Ugh! What a nightmare that was. We had it on the market but it was just sitting there! I was getting ready for super saturday and pulling my hair out in the process! Was enjoying living so close to my little sister! It was one of the funnest years of my life! Pulling together our Halloween costumes. It was the first time ever that our whole family had dressed up! Helping my friend deal with a rough pregnancy. Enjoying every minute with baby Madelyn and wondering when she would walk (never thought that it would be 18 months).

4. What I did yesterday?
Woke up at 530 am to run five miles with two friends. Went to Pottery Barn in Portland to make a return and enjoyed the beautiful fall day. Took Brinley to ballet and put Madelyn down for her nap. Cleaned four bathrooms, did laundry and vaccuumed the entire house all during naptime. Got a phone call from my neighbor informing me that Brinley had stapled her finger while playing at her house. We made a trip to urgent care and was in and out of there in 30 Minutes! Shocker! Took Morgan to swim team. Kidnapped two new beehives (one of them being Morgan 2wks early) and then came back to my house for a sleepover. Watched High School Musical 2 with all the beehives! Went to bed at 1am I'm tired!
5. 6 places I'd rather be?
On the beach in Hawaii
Getting a Massage
Anywhere in the NE enjoying the colors
At a disney theme park
Visiting my family
Vacationing in Australia
6. 5 treats I love?
Popcorn is #1 always!
Recess Peanut Butter cups
My husbands fresh strawberry shakes with wipped cream on top
Diet wild cherry pepsi
Mom's egg nog

7. What I would do with 1 million dollars?
Finish saving for my children's college
Finish buying furniture for my new home
Go on a Disney cruise vacation
Buy a brand new decked out Suburban
Help buy my sister a new home

8. 5 favorite TV shows?
Dancing with the stars, ER (yes I still watch this show and have NEVER missed an episode in 13 seasons), my new favorite The Biggest Loser, Oprah, Man vs. Wild on the Discovery Channel

9. Most Memorable things right now?
Love hearing Madelyn get excited to see all the pumpkins in the neighborhood. Hearing about Brinley's day at school. Watching Brooklyn Heely, Bike, and run with all the neighborhood boys and her brother. Cheering for Mason at his soccer games on a crisp fall day. Loving this stage we are in our lives: having a built in babysitter and going out with my husband way more frequently, (although Morgan has babysit for others the past two weekends) and having a pre-teen who still things I'm cool. Decorating and organizing my new home. Really loving my calling as Beehive Advisor.

Lovin My Bed!
For the past two months Jon and I have been sleeping on the floor without any sheets. For the first few weeks we still had our queen mattress. We finally got our king sized mattress but still no bedding. I was looking and looking for exactly what I wanted. I purchased the front pillow at a flea market in CO this past summer and have been trying to plan my whole bedding around this ONE pillow! Well, I finally found what I wanted and ordered it. I was SO excited to get it in the mail from the UPS man Wed, and Fri. I had to make one final trip to good old target for the bed skirt and then we were set. Jon was on business trip and I surprised him with our new bedding when he got home. We were both so excited to have sheets! We have been sleeping with just one flat sheet on top of the mattress and then our duvet cover over us. The joke between us was that we felt like we were camping because it reminded us of our sleeping bags! We both love our bed and are excited for all the room a king size bed has to offer!!!

Beautiful Fall!
This past weekend we were able to go with our friends to their cabin. It's always fun and very relaxing and this particular weekend spiritually uplifting. This trip was wet and cold, but very beautiful. The trees here are turning and the fall colors are fabulous. When we were driving to their cabin it reminded me of my trip to the NE three years ago. Now that trip had some amazing fall colors. I know that this sadden's Monique since she is still suffering through the heat! I did ask her last week " Do the cactus change color?" HEE, HEE. Here are just a couple pictures taken on Saturday by the lake. All the other kids were off exploring.

September 26, 2007
These are some pictures of the kids that I took over Labor Day Weekend. We always go camping that weekend and I REALLY didn't want to go this year. But as always it was a blast! I got some of these pictures one day when we were swimming. I think people must have thought I was crazy snapping pictures while I was in the water or laying in the sand. Everyone mostly cooperated except for Madelyn! I had to take about twenty until I got this one! I'm planning on enlarging them, turning them black/white and hanging them in my room!
