Six months ago I signed up to run in a half marathon called the "Hippie Chick Half." I started getting serious about my training after the holidays. I would run 4-5 days a week and I felt ready! I was excited and nervous all at the same time on Saturday getting ready for the race. This race was an "All Women's" Race that is held annually and always the day before Mother's Day. When I received a package in the mail from My Mother the day before the race I was thrilled with the contents! My mom gave me this shirt that read "Run Like A Mother!"I was proud to wear that shirt during the race and felt the energy that was around me as I ran. No matter if you were the leader of the pack running very fast or towards the end walking we were all there for the same purpose to celebrate WOMEN: Daughters, Mothers and Grandmothers! I had a great time with some other women from my ward. This was us before the race and we didn't feel too pretty for a picture after the race!
I was slightly disappointed in my outcome. For me some days are good running days and some days are NOT! Unfortunately race day was a NOT day! But I did finish and I did better than my last Half. I did it in 2:05:06 which was about 5 minutes off my goal. Hey there's always next time right???
Even though I didn't make my 2 hour goal I feel blessed to have a strong and healthy body! Now that I am in my forties I need to be grateful for small things like that! I am also so happy to be a mother to my five fabulous children and that I was able to "Run Like Their Mother" this past Mother's Day Weekend! Hope everyone had a great Mother's Day!

Oh my gosh! My friend from the gym started up the company that makes those shirts! She sells them around at running stores here. Hilarious! I can't believe you have one.... You did awesome baldy! It is such a fun thing to train for, and I think it is a wonderful build to the final day whether you do how you wanted to or not. You set a great example of an active life, and you show that you have perseverance and determination! What a great deal to be proud of! Way to go!
